Provides direct leadership to produce department crew members, including planning and assigning work, conducting performance evaluations, coaching, and administering discipline. Actively participates in training and mentoring crew members to enthusiastically demonstrate, educate, and sell produce products. Manages the training process for new produce crew members through their probationary period, including onboarding and department-specific training. Completes and submits documentation to Human Resources. Conducts daily team huddles to communicate sales goals and reinforce guest service expectations. Writes and places orders for ingredients, products, and supplies, and checks in orders upon receipt. Prepares fresh produce for sale by receiving, washing, cutting, and stocking products according to established policies. Writes daily plans and weekly work schedules. Ensures execution of in-store produce programs and corporate promotions. Controls and maintains inventory following FIFO principles to achieve consistent margin. Responsible for merchandise rotation and display maintenance to ensure product freshness. Coordinates validation, item authorization, sign making, and POS maintenance for the produce department. Ensures displays are properly stocked and maintains accurate records for damaged/spoiled merchandise. Complies with all food and workplace safety rules and regulations, and ensures the safety, cleanliness, and sanitation of the work area and equipment. Works towards acquiring product knowledge in all departments to respond to guest questions and provide information about merchandise. Stays updated on weekly specials, coupons, and promotions. Works in and cultivates a team-oriented work environment. The store is open seven days a week and may require weekend, holiday, and shift work.
