About The Position

This role works directly with warehouse management to address food safety concerns, maintain inspection records, and make recommendations regarding dump and damage and repackaging. The Produce Inspector will communicate daily with buyers and the warehouse manager on perishable item issues, inspect and verify Purchase Order quantities for inbound perishable loads, and inspect inbound trucks for pests and rodents. The position ensures compliance with Standard Operating Procedures for receiving, storage, and shipping, identifying any issues to management. Responsibilities include documenting temperatures of inbound loads, ensuring proper rotation of produce inventory and perishable items, performing daily quality inspections, and pulling outdated products. A daily dump and damage report must be completed and submitted to the warehouse supervisor or inventory control.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Minimum 1 year Produce experience (Foodservice, Retail, Grower/Shipper) or similar required
  • Must be able to operate electric pallet jack
  • Must work well without close supervision
  • Must have good oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs
  • Ability to sit and stand for long periods of time
  • Team-player – flexible and willing to learn new things and adapt as the business evolves

Responsibilities

  • Communicate daily with the buyers and warehouse manager on all issues related to perishable items.
  • Make recommendations on dump and damage or repackaging.
  • Inspect and verify Purchase Order quantities for all inbound perishable loads.
  • Inspect all inbound trucks for signs of pest and rodents before unloading.
  • Ensure compliance with all Standard Operating Procedures pertaining to receiving, storage, and shipping.
  • Identify any issues to warehouse management.
  • Document temperatures of all inbound loads and report to warehouse manager and buyers any violations.
  • Responsible for proper rotation for all produce inventory and various perishable items.
  • Perform daily quality inspections for all perishable items.
  • Perform daily date checks and pull all out dated product from pick and reserve slots.
  • Complete daily dump and damage report and give to warehouse supervisor or inventory control.
