About The Position

The Produce Clerk works in Hy-Vee’s produce department to keep merchandise stocked, fresh, and inviting while providing friendly customer service. The role includes rotating and replenishing products, checking deliveries, preparing merchandise, maintaining sanitation and department cleanliness, and helping customers locate products. Training is provided; extensive prior experience is not required.

Ability to follow written and verbal instructions carefully and with attention to detail.
Basic math skills, including simple addition, subtraction, counting, and recording.
Clear communication with customers and coworkers and a positive team contribution.
Ability to learn and apply sanitation, food safety, and department procedures.
Less than a high school diploma or equivalent experience accepted.
Six months or less of similar or related work experience; training is provided.
Ability to frequently stand and walk throughout a shift.
Ability to perform repetitive standing, walking, reaching, and bending associated with order fulfillment, POS transactions, and cleaning and sanitation duties.

Responsibilities

Greet customers, assist with their needs, and provide outstanding service.
Inspect merchandise for freshness and appearance; replenish and rotate products to maintain quality standards.
Maintain an adequate supply of products, develop or follow production lists, and anticipate daily department needs.
Check in deliveries, put product away, and review invoices as needed.
Prepare, finish, and replenish products as necessary.
Follow sanitation procedures and keep the work area clean, neat, and safe.
Remove trash promptly and assist with general department upkeep.
Order products and supplies and price products as needed.
Answer customer calls promptly and provide helpful service.
Follow Hy-Vee’s dress code, hygiene standards, and department and company guidelines.
Assist with other tasks and special projects as needed.
