About The Position

BJ's Wholesale Club is seeking a Produce Clerk to join their team. This role involves sorting, displaying, and replenishing fresh fruits and vegetables in the produce department. The Produce Clerk will provide assistance to members through product knowledge and customer service, ensuring all produce meets or exceeds company quality standards. Team members at BJ's are expected to carry out job functions with honesty and integrity, support club policies, and ensure a safe and positive environment for members and colleagues. They should work collaboratively, with speed and agility, and maintain a friendly attitude. Members are expected to deliver service excellence, resolve concerns, and ensure a safe and positive experience. Daily commitment to GOLD Member Standards (Greet, Anticipate, Appreciate) and club standards is essential. This includes ensuring all items are stocked, promotional plans are executed, signage is accurate, and the department is clean and organized. Understanding how to read performance reporting and seeing the connection between consistent execution and business impact is also key.

Requirements

• At least 18 years of age.

• Work experience in a produce department preferred.
• Knowledge of fruit and vegetables preferred, including seasonal items.

Responsibilities

• Provides assistance to Members in the produce department, answering questions, recommending products and safe handling tips, and assisting Members with finding products.
• Inspects, rotates, and stores produce upon delivery, ensuring all received produce meets or exceeds company produce standards.
• Rotates produce on the sales floor to ensure optimal freshness and variety, keeping displays fully stocked, neat, and clean. Removes products that are no longer suitable for sale.
• Maintains the produce reserve stock area by dating and rotating back stock items, and ensuring the storage area is organized and condensed daily.
• Follows established guidelines when disposing of damaged, spoiled, and/or expired products.
• Assists Fresh Manager with inventory and order processing as needed.
• Cleans and sanitizes all produce equipment, display fixtures, and areas, including the produce cooler and refrigerated display cases.
• Generates signage for produce goods and performs price check functions when necessary, ensuring all items are accurately priced and signed.
• Maintains all club policies and procedures.
• Performs other duties as assigned, including working in other departments as needed.
• Ensures regular, predictable, full attendance, which is an essential function of this job.
