About The Position

The Produce Clerk is responsible for providing service that exceeds the expectations of customers. This role involves stocking shelves, preparing fruit for display, and managing merchandise pricing. A key aspect of the job is possessing knowledge of various produce items, including their origins, growth, preparation, and shelf life. The clerk must also be proficient in using scales and building customer loyalty through excellent service, adhering to the '15 Second Service' policy and the 'Seven Points to Extraordinary Service'.

Requirements

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Ability to know the various types of produce, where they come from, how they grow, how they are prepared, and their life span
• Ability to understand and use scales
• Must acknowledge and/or greet customers within the first 15 seconds of the customer’s arrival
• Must execute the 'Seven Points to Extraordinary Service' at all times

Responsibilities

• Stocks shelves in the produce department
• Washes, cuts, peels, wraps, and prepares fruit for stocking
• Stamps, marks, or tags price on merchandise
• Maintains excellent customer service and creates repeat business
