About The Position

This is a part-time evening position responsible for assisting the produce manager in various tasks, including ordering, receiving, stocking, and maintaining the produce section. The role also involves customer service, ensuring food safety standards, and learning all aspects of the department to potentially take on more responsibility. The position requires flexibility in scheduling and the ability to perform tasks in a retail environment.

Responsibilities

• Assume duties of other teammates when one is out due to personal or other work-related obligations, which may require extra hours.
• Assist the produce manager in ordering, receiving, unloading, storing, and rotating merchandise.
• Build displays and ensure health department and food safety standards are exceeded.
• Maintain, clean, and organize produce shelving and display units.
• Ensure all products are tagged and/or labeled properly and rotated.
• Learn all aspects of the current position and prepare to take on more responsibility.
• Maintain produce display, prep, and storage areas in clean, orderly condition.
• Assist with monthly department inventories as directed.
• Assist customers with produce questions and special orders, offering samples and suggestions.
• Follow “COOL” (Country of Origin Labeling) guidelines and requirements.
• Trim, wash, and bundle produce as needed.
• Properly dispose of unsellable items.
• Work with the Produce Manager to research under-performing areas within the department for improvement.
