About The Position

BJ’s Wholesale Club is powered by more than 30,000 team members who make a real impact every day, helping families save on what matters most. The Produce Clerk sorts, displays, removes, and replenishes fresh fruits and vegetables in the produce department. This role maintains the overall environment of the department by providing assistance to Members through product knowledge and customer service, ensuring that all produce meets or exceeds company quality standards. Team members are expected to carry out job functions and responsibilities as assigned, support club policies and procedures, strive for flawless execution, act with honesty and integrity, lead with the member in mind, ensure a safe and positive environment, embrace inclusion and diversity, work as a team, move with speed and agility, innovate and adapt, and maintain a friendly and positive attitude. The role also involves delivering service excellence to members, resolving concerns, and working to achieve GOLD club standards daily, including maintaining a grand opening look, stocking items, executing promotional plans, ensuring accurate signage, and keeping the club clean and organized. Understanding departmental production and financial performance reporting is also part of the role.

Requirements

  • At least 18 years of age.
  • Regular, predictable, full attendance is an essential function of this job.

Responsibilities

  • Sort, display, remove, and replenish fresh fruits and vegetables in the produce department.
  • Maintain the overall environment of the produce department.

  • Work as a team to deliver GOLD club standards daily, including a grand opening look.
  • Ensure all items are stocked and promotional plans are executed.
  • Maintain visible accurate signage.
  • Keep the club clean and organized, inside and out.
  • Understand how to access and read production and/or financial performance reporting for the department.
  • See the connection between consistent execution and its positive impact on the business.
  • Answer questions, recommend products and safe handling tips, and assist Members with finding products.
  • Inspect, rotate, and store produce upon delivery.
  • Rotate produce on the sales floor to ensure optimal freshness and variety.
  • Ensure cases and display areas are fully stocked.
  • Keep produce displays neat and clean.
  • Remove products no longer suitable for sale.
  • Maintain the produce reserve stock area, dating and rotating all back stock items.
  • Ensure the storage area is organized and condensed daily.
  • Follow established guidelines for disposing of damaged, spoiled, and/or expired products.
  • Assist Fresh Manager with inventory and order processing as needed.
  • Clean and sanitize all produce equipment, display fixtures, and areas, including the produce cooler and refrigerated display cases.
  • Generate signage for produce goods and perform price check functions.
  • Ensure all items are accurately priced and signed.
  • Maintain all club policies and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned, including working in other departments as needed.
  • Maintain regular, predictable, full attendance.
