About The Position

This is a part-time Produce Clerk position. The role involves assisting the produce manager with various tasks including ordering, receiving, stocking, and maintaining the produce section. The clerk will also be responsible for customer service, including answering questions, offering samples, and taking special orders. Cross-training for other positions and assisting with inventories are also key responsibilities. The role requires a flexible schedule and the ability to perform physical tasks associated with a retail environment.

Responsibilities

Assume duties of other teammates when one is out due to personal or other work-related obligations, which may require extra hours.
Assist the produce manager in ordering, receiving, unloading, storing, and rotating merchandise.
Build displays and ensure health department and food safety standards are exceeded.
Maintain, clean, and organize produce shelving and display units, ensuring all products are properly tagged, labeled, and rotated.
Work towards learning all aspects of the current position and taking on more responsibility.
Maintain produce display, prep, and storage areas in clean, orderly condition.
Assist with monthly department inventories.
Assist customers with produce questions and special orders, offering samples and suggestions.
Follow “COOL” (Country of Origin Labeling) guidelines and requirements.
Trim, wash, and bundle produce as needed.
Properly dispose of unsellable items.
Work with the Produce Manager to research under-performing areas within the department for improvement.
