About The Position

That's WEIS! This position is responsible for keeping the produce department well stocked and appealing to meet customer demands. The associate will smile and greet customers, answer customer questions, handle special requests, and resolve customer concerns promptly in a polite and professional manner. Responsibilities include unpacking merchandise, cleaning and trimming produce, stocking new merchandise, ensuring merchandise is in saleable condition by rotating stock, and ensuring product has correct pricing and signage. The associate will also maintain the salad bar and cut fruit/vegetables as needed, assist in building attractive displays, and accurately complete necessary product logs. Handling spoiled and damaged product, new items, and discontinued items according to company policy is also required. General sanitation in the department, following cleaning schedules and department guidelines to ensure work areas, equipment, counters, and display cases are well maintained, clean, and meet health and OSHA requirements is essential. Proper disposal of trash, minimizing shrink, and controlling damages are key. The associate will report shortages and overages to the manager. May assist with receiving, unloading, checking-in, breaking-down, and storing deliveries through operation of power jack or hand jack if properly trained (training provided). May assist with baling cardboard or other related duties if properly trained (training provided). Ensuring smooth function of the department and store by cooperating with co-workers and superiors and continuously improving job performance is expected. Responsible for utilization of all company-provided Personal Protected Equipment (PPE), including but not limited to cut resistant gloves, safety cutters, and company-sponsored footwear. May also be called upon to assist in other departments.

Requirements

Completed or working towards a High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED).
No prior experience required.

Responsibilities

Keeps produce department well stocked and appealing to meet customer demands.
Smiles and greets customers, answers customer questions, handles special requests such as filling orders for fruit baskets and resolves customer concerns promptly in a polite and professional manner.
Unpacks cartons and crates of merchandise, cleans and trims produce, stocks area with new merchandise.
Ensures merchandise is in saleable condition which requires rotating stock to ensure freshness.
Ensures that product has been properly priced with correct signage.
Maintains salad bar and cut fruit/vegetable as needed.
Assists in building attractive displays.
Accurately completes necessary product logs.
Handles spoiled and damaged product, new items and discontinued items accordingly to company policy.
Responsible for general sanitation in the department.
Follows cleaning schedules and department guidelines to ensure that work areas, equipment, counters, display cases, etc. are well maintained, clean and meet all health and OSHA requirements.
