The Produce Assistant is responsible for assisting the Produce Manager in the successful operation and profitability of the produce department. This role involves providing world-class customer service, maintaining an inviting and well-stocked department, and assisting with inventory management, ordering, and profitability. The position also includes daily department setup, proper produce handling and storage, ensuring product quality and standards, and maintaining a safe and clean work environment. The Produce Assistant will also handle customer orders, assist in training, conduct product demonstrations, and manage register functions, including customer returns and complaints. Maintaining safety and security for customers and employees is paramount, as is increasing product knowledge and utilizing company systems. Completing closing procedures may be required in the absence of other qualified employees. This role requires working a schedule based on store needs, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, for five days and 40 hours per week, with attendance at mandatory store meetings. While the position has limited Manager on Duty functions, it is not intended to be the overall store Manager on Duty. All employees are expected to be hands-on and contribute to the company's success.
