About The Position

This position supports an upcoming recruiting event scheduled for Friday, August 7, 2026. It is an invitation-only interview event for the Integrated Planning and Production Control Division of HII – Newport News Shipbuilding. Interviews will be conducted at the Net Center in Newport News, VA. The role involves planning, preparing, issuing, and controlling production schedules, coordinating with material requirements to ensure a smooth flow of approved materials timed to meet production needs. The individual will advise management on work-in-progress status, material availability, and potential production issues, ensuring personnel, equipment, materials, and services are available as needed. Responsibilities include scheduling equipment and personnel, confirming material supply and demands, and preparing work orders or purchase requests based on master production schedules, shop loads, and inventory requirements. The role also coordinates interdepartmental activities with quality assurance, manufacturing, purchasing, engineering, inventory control, and traffic, and schedules/expedites the movement of parts.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree and 0 years of relevant exempt experience
  • NNS Apprentice School graduate may be used as equivalent to Bachelor's Degree
  • Navy Nuclear Power School (NNPS) graduate may be used as equivalent to Bachelor's Degree
  • Associate's Degree or other formal 2 year program and 2 years of relevant exempt experience
  • 4 years of relevant non-exempt experience
  • Military Paygrade E-5 or above military experience
  • High School/GED and 4 years combined of Manufacturing, Shipbuilding, Trades, Military experience or other relevant exempt experience
  • High School/GED and 8 years combined of Manufacturing, Shipbuilding, Trades, Military experience or other relevant non-exempt experience
  • US Citizenship Required

Responsibilities

  • Plans, prepares, issues and controls production schedules
  • Coordinates with material requirements to ensure a controlled flow of approved materials timed to meet production requirements
  • Advises management of the status of work in progress, material availability, and potential production problems
  • Schedules equipment and personnel
  • Confirms material supply and demands
  • Prepares work orders or purchase requests for the production or purchase of components or parts based on a master production schedule, shop load and inventory requirements
  • Coordinates interdepartmental activity with quality assurance, manufacturing, purchasing, engineering, inventory control, traffic, etc.
  • Schedules and expedites the movement of parts by means of move orders, stock transfers and requests for shipping orders
