Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in purchasing, supply chain, business and/or equivalent years of experience.
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in direct material procurement or category management within food or CPG manufacturing.
  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office with advanced skills in Excel; experience with ERP Systems, SAP, PDM desired.
  • Demonstrated success managing large spend categories and delivering measurable savings.
  • Advanced negotiation and contract management skills.
  • Strong analytical, financial, and forecasting capabilities.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, multi-site manufacturing environment.
  • Self-motivated, goal oriented, quality driven, and capable of working independently with little supervision.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development, implementation and alignment of sourcing strategies and supplier capabilities for nuts and other ingredient categories as assigned to achieve business objectives.
  • Lead sourcing, contracting, and day-to-day purchasing activities to ensure continuity of supply and lowest total landed cost. Track and monitor supplier compliance with contractual agreements.
  • Partner with Supply Chain, Freight, Quality, Product Development, Commercialization, Operations, Materials Management, and Finance to align supply strategies with plant requirements and financial targets.
  • Develop and implement strategic sourcing frameworks, supplier segmentation, and long-term agreements.
  • Lead domestic and global supplier negotiations for pricing, quality, service, capacity, and risk mitigation.
  • Monitor commodity and market trends; develop price forecasts and risk management strategies; communicate impacts to senior leadership.
  • Drive annual productivity, cost savings, and working capital improvement initiatives.
  • Establish inventory strategies and service level expectations in partnership with plants.
  • Lead cross-functional supplier selection, qualification, and rationalization efforts.
  • Provide functional leadership, coaching, and performance management for buyers or procurement team members.
  • Ensure all purchased materials meet quality, regulatory, and food safety requirements.
  • Initiate and lead through any supplier or category supply chain disruption to include engaging suppliers for a recovery plan, engaging all relevant stakeholders of the disruption, scheduling, and leading relevant meetings, and working with suppliers and internal team members until the disruption has been resolved.
  • Provide results to stakeholders and cross-functional teams to include savings/costs calculations and any subjective recommendations based on the supplier’s ability to execute.
  • Investigate issues, find root causes, and develop solutions.
  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with cross functional partners.
  • Foster relationships with broker networks and supplier partners.
  • Provide a sourcing and supplier perspective to cross-functional team members to help develop a comprehensive understanding when making business decisions.
  • Assist with other procurement initiatives as required.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
