About The Position

Scotts Miracle-Gro is seeking a Purchasing Specialist to support their team of Buyers and Procurement Managers at their corporate headquarters in Marysville, OH. This is a hybrid position offering a mix of in-office and remote work. The role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, high-energy, and seasonal manufacturing environment. The Purchasing Specialist will provide analytics, reporting, and systems maintenance to support strategic sourcing. They will also be responsible for managing minor commodities (less than $20MM of spend) under close supervision, including supply assurance, sourcing new components, supplier relationship management, and savings projects.

Requirements

  • Bachelors or Associates Degree preferred or equivalent experience.
  • 0-2 years of Supply Chain experience.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and problem-solving skills.
  • Be a team player with the ability to work on cross-functional teams.
  • Experience working on multi-function teams.
  • SAP knowledge.

Responsibilities

  • Resolve invoice issues with A/P and the supplier to ensure accurate and on-time payments.
  • Complete the contract management process for the Packaging Procurement team, including creating SAP contracts, completing quarterly contract pricing updates, and contract quantity true-ups.
  • Complete analysis and report out on MPV analysis.
  • Act as project management lead on inventory reduction, savings & productivity, DPO, and other assigned projects.
  • Support strategy development work in different packaging categories.
  • Place purchase orders as requested.
  • Manage the addition of new suppliers into the system, including collecting forms and credit information.
  • Screen potential suppliers.
  • Manage lower risk commodities, including SRM, sourcing, quotes, and negotiation.
  • Identify and gain alignment to pursue new savings / value add opportunities.
  • Support procurement best practices, policies, and procedures.
  • Demonstrate a bias toward action and ability to work autonomously.
