About The Position

The Procurement Specialist manages materials and services expenditures of AMERICAN by utilizing effective purchasing principles and procedures, and will also communicate with and analyze qualified suppliers while working toward acquiring the best materials for the Company. The Procurement Specialist will also develop relationships internally to enhance the quality of information shared between all AMERICAN divisions and Purchasing, and maintain a professional knowledge of market conditions and supplier performance to provide the best value available for a competitive advantage.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business or a related course of study from an accredited four-year college or university.
  • Excellent negotiation skills.

  • Ability to perform job duties with numerous interruptions.

  • Positive customer service attitude and demeanor.
  • Ability to be resourceful in addressing customer requirements, both internal and external, with purchased materials and AMERICAN products.
  • Working knowledge in the use of word processing, spreadsheet, presentation, and database software, such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.
  • Basic knowledge of Material Management/Material Requirements Planning (MRP) software package.
  • Ability to perform mathematical calculations accurately.
  • Possess a valid state issued driver's license.

Nice To Haves

  • Two or more years in Purchasing or related experience.
  • Certified Purchasing Manager (CPM), Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM), or Certified Planning and Inventory Management (CPIM) purchasing professional designation or equivalent certification.
  • Master's in Business Administration.
  • Experience with AMERICAN manufacturing or comparable experience.
  • Basic knowledge of International Organizational for Standardization (ISO).
  • Active APICS certification.
  • Experience in more than one AMERICAN product line or comparable outside product lines.
