Requirements

  • At least 3 years of experience in a manufacturing purchasing environment is required.
  • Recent experience in production procurement, material control and scheduling using an MRP automated system is required.
  • Knowledge of PC software (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint) required.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills required.
  • Applicants must be either a U.S. citizen, U.S. national, legal permanent resident, asylee, refugee or must be eligible to apply for and obtain the appropriate export control license from the U.S. Departments of State or Commerce.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience and knowledge of FAR/DFAR regulations strongly preferred.
  • Experience with SAP is strongly preferred.
  • APICS certified preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Schedules, and monitors the movement of materials through the production cycle to determine required material purchases.
  • Resolves discrepancies and ensures material standards are met and non-conformances or variances are approved and/or minimized.
  • Develops specifications for new contract orders.
  • Gathers quotations, examines bids and executes purchase orders.
  • Monitors cost, schedule, and scope of assigned subcontracts to assure best quality at best value.
  • Evaluates vendor reliability and develops new supply sources where vendors and suppliers are no longer competitive.
  • Manages procurement for assigned commodities to satisfy business needs while complying with government, quality system and company policy requirements.
  • Works in partnership with Manufacturing, engineering and service departments to assure all orders and requirements are met.
  • Supports on-time delivery and production productivity by maintaining an effective supply chain.
  • Facilitates solutions to schedule changes and commercial/technical issues with suppliers.
  • Manages supplier relationships and negotiates favorable terms to meet Teledyne FLIR’s customer requirements.
  • Manages supply chain risk and maximizes margin and cash flow through cost savings and inventory management.
  • Assists Strategic Purchasing Manager with sourcing activities such as the request for proposal creation, outlining negotiation opportunities for suppliers, establishing vendor selection criteria, contract review, baseline and cost savings validation, and strategy execution.
  • Helps streamline work processes between Teledyne FLIR sites and establish procedures and work instructions.
  • Assesses sources of supply to maximize overall total cost of ownership.
  • Negotiates and initiates purchase agreements to support requirements.
  • Manages sub-contracts and develops effective working relationships with suppliers.
  • Develops alternate sources of supply in addition to other actions taken to manage supply risk.
  • Manages materials assigned to maximize inventory turns.
  • Participates in material analysis activities for continuous improvement of material, cost, and lead-time.
  • Supports the Strategic team on executing opportunities to deliver on agreed annual sourcing plan targets and other key metrics.
  • Conducts sourcing activities in a way that adheres to compliance with proper procedures, policies, systems, and controls.
  • Procures and schedules material to support daily production requirements and fulfill customer’s expectations.
  • Performs data analysis and decision making to support raw material supply and finished goods demand.
  • Reviews incoming orders against forecast / material availability, adjusting as necessary and communicating product availability to appropriate parties in the organization.
  • Conducts ERP analysis and planning through order placement and management including the following: analyzes purchase requisitions; initiates RFQs/RFPs; reviews bids; selects vendors; negotiates terms, conditions and pricing of material or services to be procured and issues/manages subsequent purchase orders.
  • Manages day-to-day supplier issues, maintains purchasing master data in ERP system and completes required documentation associated with government procurement.
  • Drives continuous improvement in the supply chain's quality, delivery and cost processes including sourcing activities and inventory reduction.
