About The Position

This position serves as the Northern Region Property Officer and Procurement Specialist for the Department of Transportation and Public Facilities. The role involves a variety of procurement and property control activities, including the acquisition, renting, and leasing of supplies, equipment, services, or real property, as well as the control, storage, accounting, and disposal of controlled property. The incumbent ensures that necessary supplies, equipment, and services are available to the department in a timely and economical manner, and guarantees that all agency procurement activities comply with the state procurement code and other relevant regulations, policies, and procedures.

Requirements

  • Competency in Oral and Written Communication: Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral and written presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately.
  • Competency in Reading Comprehension: Understands and interprets written material, including technical material, rules, regulations, instructions, reports, charts, graphs, or tables; applies what is learned from written material to specific situations.
  • Any combination of preparatory post-secondary education and/or experience in business administration, logistics, supply chain management, project management, or a related field performing property control, purchasing, contract administration, writing or approving solicitations, explaining contracting requirements, developing or approving product specifications or, developing or approving a scope of work for para-professional and/or professional services.
  • A written delegation of authority is required by AS36.30 and a State of Alaska, Procurement Officer Certification Level III (Unlimited).
  • Current Alaska Driver License desired.
