About The Position

The Procurement Sr. Specialist is responsible for managing CAPEX and spend within their category through theme development, strategic management, and stakeholder alignment. The Specialist will regularly engage with business stakeholders, establish and lead strategies for optimal cost reduction, and manage supplier relationships and risk. This position owns relationships with key site and business unit leadership, supports CAPEX projects, and develops/implements sourcing strategies in collaboration with internal business partners and suppliers to reduce risks and costs for Honda. The Specialist is accountable for identifying, setting, and managing metrics to ensure supplier performance and delivery. This role drives results through competitive bidding processes, data analysis, and market trend analysis. It also actively drives continuous improvement of regional Procurement processes and tools, is responsible for long-term category planning, and creates/drives/implements initiatives, communicating and influencing customers and suppliers at all levels. The Specialist must work collaboratively, exhibit a strong sense of urgency, possess an intense curiosity and learning drive, operate successfully in a fast-paced environment, engage and influence key stakeholders, be customer-focused, and display a high level of business acumen. The ability to manage multiple projects and ensure timely completion to meet business objectives is essential.

Requirements

Bachelor Degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Finance, or related field or equivalent experience
5+ years of experience in either a Purchasing and/or Procurement related role or in a field where job knowledge & skills are applicable based on education
Advance computer skills including working knowledge of Microsoft suite to include word, excel, PowerPoint, etc.
Familiarity with sap, Ariba or major ERP system(s)
Understanding of commercial terms and conditions and experience in identifying and negotiating master agreement requirements; ability to identify engagement risk factors and ensure commercial contracts and legal agreements appropriately mitigate risk and protect Honda.
Expert understanding of, and experience with, multi-step strategic sourcing processes and category management strategies
Able to explain complex data in an understandable manner for a wide range of audiences
Plan and implement long-term development strategies for category
Strong communication and negotiation skills for all levels of audience

Responsibilities

Supplier Performance / Development / Risk/ Support Segmentation
Develop/Execute/Implement the Strategic Sourcing Function in Alignment with Category
Lead the team to establish and meet category SEQCDM performance targets and measures, monitor progress and implement countermeasures when necessary
Responsible For Category’s Legal and Commercial Supplier Contracts Executed to Protect Honda and Business Users
Lead project implementation and oversee projects and business plan items, monitor progress and adjust direction as needed
Effectively sell ideas, negotiate, collaborate, and build consensus across Honda North America sites (Mfg., Sales, R&D)
Apply key customer (upstream, downstream, and end-user) viewpoint in all category activities.
Establish, understand, and communicate Total Cost of Ownership to all parties.
Build a network of productive relationships across HDMA/AHM to achieve category plans and targets
