About The Position

The Procurement Manager is responsible for leading a team of procurement specialists who handle the timely and efficient procurement of equipment, materials, supplies, and services for multiple fossil generation sites and operating regions. The goal is to support commercial availability and drive financial value. This role requires a broad understanding of sourcing and procurement processes, with a focus on optimizing efficiency to achieve savings, implement contractual protections, facilitate purchase orders, and resolve invoice issues. The manager will also lead special projects, cross-cutting departmental activities, and may be involved in purchasing and contracting as needed.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED
  • 4-5 years relevant procurement or contracting experience
  • Sourcing practitioner with solid knowledge and ability to prepare and execute one-off sourcing events, including e-Sourcing projects
  • Solid negotiation knowledge with ability to undertake negotiations of medium complexity
  • Understanding of legal risks and practical effects of contract terms and conditions
  • Ability to negotiate red lines of common commercial terms
  • Basic understanding of cost management principles including TCO, NPV, working capital and application of these concepts in sourcing decisions
  • Operational procurement expert with demonstrated ability to develop, apply, and improve the P2P process while ensuring compliance with policies and procedures
  • Ability to develop and maintain solid relationships with key stakeholders while influencing and/or challenging the status quo when necessary

Nice To Haves

  • 4 years’ relevant supervisory and leadership experience in sourcing or procurement
  • Experience gained through college degree programs and/or certifications is applicable to above skills

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct supervision and leadership to the procurement specialist team, ensuring performance delivery aligned with organizational objectives and regularly reviewing performance metrics.
  • Lead the performance management and development processes for direct reports, including check-ins and year-end reviews.
  • Balance workload distribution across the procurement specialist team(s) to ensure optimal working conditions, high team performance, and satisfactory service levels.
  • Make and implement recommendations for organizational improvements or changes to the procurement team to effectively support a continually evolving fleet.
  • Collaborate and communicate with supply chain leadership, category teams, and cross-functional groups (AP, Tax, Legal) regarding process improvement, issue resolution, and championing sustainable changes.
  • Maintain strong relationships and regular communication with key client stakeholders and suppliers to facilitate efficient sourcing, contracting, and procurement activities, as well as problem-solving and recommending improvements.
  • Ensure contract quality across the procurement team to provide commercial protections, mitigate risk, and adhere to company policies.
  • Provide oversight and guidance for staff negotiations with suppliers on commercial and legal terms, escalating when necessary.
  • Incorporate safety into daily work ethic, team leadership, and buying decisions.
