About The Position

The SEI helps advance software engineering principles and practices and serves as a national resource in software engineering, computer security, and process improvement. The SEI works closely with defense and government organizations, industry, and academia to continually improve software-intensive systems. Its core purpose is to help organizations improve software engineering capabilities and develop or acquire the right software, defect-free, within budget and on time, every time. As a Procurement Manager at the Software Engineering Institute (SEI), you'll play a critical role in leading our procurement team and driving process improvements that enhance operational efficiency and effectiveness. You'll work closely with stakeholders to provide expert guidance, support, and procurement leadership, ensuring that our procurement practices align with organizational objectives.

Requirements

  • At least 10 years of experience in procurement, with a proven track record of process improvement, operational support, and team leadership.
  • Develop and implement procurement strategies that align with organizational goals and objectives.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders, providing expert guidance and support to ensure that procurement practices meet their needs.
  • Analyze and optimize procurement processes to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance compliance.
  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders, team members, and vendors, ensuring that procurement practices are transparent and effective.
  • Drive results-oriented procurement practices, ensuring that procurement transactions are accurate, complete, and compliant with organizational policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze and optimize procurement processes to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance compliance.
  • Identify areas for process improvement and implement changes that drive operational excellence.
  • Provide expert procurement guidance and support to stakeholders across the organization, ensuring that procurement practices align with organizational goals and objectives.
  • Lead and develop a team of procurement professionals, providing coaching, mentoring, and training to ensure that team members have the skills and knowledge needed to excel in their roles.
  • Oversee purchasing reviews, ensuring that procurement transactions are accurate, complete, and compliant with organizational policies and procedures.
  • Manage procurement administration tasks, including contract management, vendor management, and reporting.
