About The Position

As the Procurement Manager, you will lead a team charged with maintaining a relevant product mix in our stores, recommending new product lines to grow sales, recommending items/categories for promotion and maintaining proper stock levels to maximize the bottom-line profit. This role requires a strong team approach, excellent cross-functional collaboration, and a focus on merchandising strategy, inventory management, and profit growth.

  • Regular travel to Rocky’s Ace stores is required.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a team responsible for maintaining a relevant product mix, recommending new product lines, and identifying items/categories for promotion.
  • Ensure proper stock levels to maximize profit.
  • Foster a cohesive and effective work relationship within the Merchandising Department.
  • Train, mentor, coach, and counsel assigned team members.
  • Recruit, select, train, mentor, and lead new merchandising team members.
  • Work with stores to ensure relevant merchandising selection, identify niches, and leverage opportunities.
  • Keep the product mix current, relevant, and interesting, involving regular travel to stores.
  • Oversee line reviews, category reviews, product changes, installations, and implementations.
  • Manage new items, discontinued items, and SKU conversions.
  • Assist the Inventory Manager with clearance items to minimize overstocks and slow-moving inventory while protecting margins.
  • Collaborate with stores, Category Managers, Associate Buyers, and the inventory management team to maximize in-stock levels for basic, seasonal, and promotional inventory.
  • Ensure close linkage between Procurement and Marketing to maximize promotions.
  • Assist with the suggestion of ad items and their placement based on sales data and ad performance analysis.
  • Focus on margin maintenance and growth through retail pricing management and strategy, and by lowering procurement costs.
  • Oversee Seasonal/Holiday planning.
  • Lead the development of endcaps, sidecaps, clip strips, impulse, and promotional displays, and analyze their performance.
  • Lead the merchandising team through Ace show preparation and process.
  • Provide reporting and analytics to the Senior Management team.
  • Maintain professional development, including attendance and active participation in Ace peer groups, courses, seminars, and trade shows.
