About The Position

The Procurement Manager, Midwest Operations will lead the procurement organization for MI Operations and the West Chester site, providing coaching, management, and escalation support to the team. This role is responsible for driving KPI performance metrics, building supplier relationships, and developing sourcing strategies to ensure a competitive advantage. The manager will lead global or regional sourcing efforts, negotiate contracts, and ensure business requirements for quality, fulfillment, and productivity are met. Responsibilities include sourcing and purchasing necessary materials and services, analyzing market trends, and collaborating with other departments to qualify new suppliers. The role also involves monitoring supplier performance and preparing bid packages.

Requirements

  • Five to ten years of related Supply Chain Management experience in an Engineer-to-order manufacturing, OEM, aerospace, or defense environment.
  • Demonstrated progressive career development with increasing responsibilities, with an emphasis in manufacturing.
  • Strong knowledge of production flow, inventory flow, and documentation procedures.
  • Strong business/financial acumen, proficient in leading and setting direction for teams, including demonstrated ability to motivate, influence and drive change at all levels of the organization.
  • Excellent growth leadership skills demonstrating clear global perspective and understand factors impacting Aerospace businesses and our suppliers.
  • Ability to organize time effectively to satisfactorily complete assigned tasks and functions. This includes planning of workflow and meetings.
  • Excellent computer skills with an emphasis in Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to effectively negotiate contracts, ability to meet deadlines and work well under pressure.

  • APICS/ISM/Supply Chain certification is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the procurement organization for MI Operations and the West Chester site, providing coaching, management, and escalation support to the team.
  • Drive KPI performance metrics – late release, push/pull/cancel, delinquency/OTD and costs/PPV.
  • Build supplier relationships and lead efforts to work with vendors to ensure OTD and cost needs for sites.
  • Drive the sourcing strategy that delivers a competitive advantage including implementation of the strategic supplier initiatives.
  • Lead Global Purchase Family or Regional Commodity specific sourcing with full accountability for buy and meeting material deflation targets by setting strategic direction for global or regional sourcing professionals.
  • Develop strategies and drive negotiations to meet the quality, fulfillment, and productivity requirements of the business.
  • Source and purchase machinery, equipment, tools, raw material, packaging materials, parts, services and/or supplies necessary for operation of an organization.
  • Compile and analyze statistical data to determine feasibility of buying products and to establish price objectives.
  • Compile information to keep informed on price trends and manufacturing processes.
  • Confer with suppliers and analyze suppliers' operations to determine factors that affect prices and determine lowest cost consistent with quality, reliability, and ability to meet required schedules.
  • Review proposals, negotiate prices, select, or recommend suppliers, analyze trends, follow up orders placed, verify delivery, approve payment, and maintain necessary records.
  • Collaborate with other departments, such as procurement, engineering, and quality assurance, to identify or qualify new suppliers.
  • Monitor and report on supplier performance and implement corrective action when required.
  • Prepare bid packages, and coach supporting procurement team as needed on bids and negotiations.
  • Perform other related duties and projects as assigned.
