About The Position

GeoSpectrum is growing and has a new career opportunity for an experienced Procurement Manager! Reporting to the Director of Procurement and Quality, the Procurement Manager is responsible for leading the day-to-day execution of procurement activities, ensuring the efficient, compliant, and timely sourcing of materials and services. In this role, you’ll serve as the first-line decision maker for procurement operations, while providing direct leadership, coaching, and support to a dedicated team of procurement professionals. As a key member of the team, you will play an important role in maintaining continuity of supply, strengthening process discipline, and ensuring alignment with organizational procurement strategies and quality standards. This position offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on operational performance while contributing to a collaborative and results-driven environment.

Requirements

  • 5–10 years of experience in procurement, supply chain, or materials management
  • Prior experience in a lead or supervisory role
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing environments and supply chain dynamics
  • Experience with ERP systems
  • Knowledge of quality and compliance requirements (e.g., ISO environments)
  • All candidates must be eligible to apply for and maintain Canadian Controlled Goods and Canadian Government Security Clearances.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily procurement activities, including purchasing, expediting, and supplier communication
  • Ensure material availability aligns with production schedules and program priorities
  • Monitor and address supply risks, shortages, and delivery performance issues
  • Act as the primary escalation point for procurement-related operational challenges
  • Lead and manage 6–8 direct reports (buyers, planners, or procurement specialists)
  • Provide clear direction, coaching, and performance feedback
  • Support team development through training, mentoring, and capability building
  • Ensure workload balance and accountability across the team
  • Serve as the first-level decision authority on procurement matters, including: Supplier selection within approved frameworks, Order prioritization and expediting decisions, Resolution of supplier performance issues
  • Escalate only strategic or high-risk issues to senior leadership
  • Maintain strong working relationships with key suppliers
  • Coordinate with internal stakeholders (Manufacturing, Engineering, Quality) to align priorities
  • Participate in supplier performance reviews and drive corrective actions as needed
  • Ensure adherence to procurement policies, quality standards, and regulatory requirements
  • Drive consistency and discipline in procurement processes (PO issuance, documentation, etc.)
  • Support implementation of process improvements and ERP system workflows
  • Track and report on key metrics such as: On-Time Delivery (OTD), Material availability / shortage performance, Supplier responsiveness
  • Identify trends and implement corrective actions to improve performance
