About The Position

The Procurement Leader will provide strategic thought leadership, influence and hands on engagement to negotiate and coordinate the sourcing of materials and services for the Thermo King Americas Business Unit (BU). This role will drive world-class excellence by improving cost, quality, delivery, and cash impact of the supply base while rationalizing the supply base, localizing as necessary for new market growth and increasing flexibility through lead time reduction and supply chain resilience. The Procurement Leader is in a unique position to ensure alignment with key Product Growth Team stakeholders and to drive strategic alignment across the functions (including engineering, operations, materials, quality) and corporate category teams as it relates to supplier requirements and performance. The Procurement Leader will report to the Vice President, Procurement Americas and will be based in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

Requirements

  • 12+ years experience or progressively increasing responsibility in sourcing and supply chain in a global industrial environment
  • Strong global sourcing background with a minimum of 3 years experience managing global supply chain operations
  • Deep Lean background and broad commodity background required
  • Excellent financial acumen especially as related to sourcing and supply chain
  • Superior process skills (development, analysis, documentation, improvement and management)
  • Exceptional leadership and negotiation skills are required
  • Ability to break down complex problems and develop comprehensive action plans to drive improvements
  • Demonstrated success includes supplier development across regions, responsibility for high-level negotiations, leading/participating on multi-functional projects, and team development
  • Strong academic background supported by a bachelor’s degree in business administration, supply chain, engineering, finance or related field

Responsibilities

  • Lead BU procurement strategy development and execution including supplier/supply chain improvements
  • Develop relationships and strategies with internal partners to identify business needs and align supply base to achieve strategic direction.
  • Lead BU Procurement organization including support of talent development, employee engagement and performance management
  • Drive process standardization efforts across regions to ensure accurate and actionable reporting through utilization of standard work
  • Evaluate and assess current business needs, and partner with corporate category team to establish the procurement vision and strategy.
  • Evaluate and establish appropriate regional supply chain as required for the business to ensure best total landed cost and resilience.
  • Understand and model commodity variations and impact to the total business
  • Identify and Manage supply chain risk mitigation strategies in support of product strategies in partnership with Category teams
  • Own Supplier Delivery Escalation Process including ensuring timely response, engagement, and mitigation by team members to minimize impact to production
  • Ensure proper and timely execution of projects, including risk mitigation, productivity, quality, and new product development (NPD) through standard gate process
  • Responsible for BU Procurement goals and metrics within region including addressing any gaps in achieving goals. Balance overall metrics with individual plant and/or product scorecards
  • Responsible for accurate forecasting and reporting of Procurement financial metrics, including productivity and inflation, across responsible plants within region, develop Procurement’s portion of Annual Operating Plan
  • Responsible for Procurement participation in plant or product Value Analysis/Value Engineering (VAVE) or Major Model Review (MMR) events
