About The Position

Turner & Townsend is seeking a Procurement Lead to join their expanding team in the US (New York, Houston and/or Chicago). This role will initially support a leading developer of renewable energy assets, managing major procurement and contracts management initiatives. The position is intended to help establish a strong foundation in the US and support growth across the renewable energy sector. The Procurement Lead will support clients with the procurement and contracts management of key packages for major onshore wind, BESS, utility-scale solar PV, and Power-to-X projects. The initial focus will be on developing an onshore wind portfolio, specifically involving the procurement of wind turbines (WTGs) and the negotiation and management of turbine supply agreements (TSAs) and related contracts.

Requirements

  • Specific experience with WTG procurement and the negotiation of the turbine supply agreement (TSA), as well as any other turbine related contracts, e.g. service and warranty/maintenance agreements.
  • Knowledge of, and experience in dealing with the WTG OEMs and supply chain (GE Vernova, Vestas, Nordex, Enercon, etc.).
  • On-shore wind experience is essential.
  • US market experience is required.
  • Assume Director/Project Director level.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate commercial, technical, financial and legal expertise from both clients and within JUMBO, ensuring compliance with client governance and approval procedures.
  • Provide maximum value to clients in terms of quality, price, and schedule while minimizing risks.
  • Lead and perform the complete procurement process, including issuing requests for information, proposals, and tenders, evaluating proposals, recommending awards, and finalizing contracts.
  • Ensure procurement processes are executed according to client policies and procedures, and documented for transparency and traceability.
  • Identify value items and their relationship within the scope of procurement, setting tender strategies according to well-defined awarding criteria.
  • Coordinate internal and external information flow, keeping stakeholders informed of progress.
  • Finalize commercial and contractual deals as a basis for contractual finalization, managing exceptions with legal and stakeholders.
  • Achieve maximum value while minimizing delivery, quality, and performance risks, finding compromises and solutions to drive negotiations to a close under time pressure.
  • Actively participate in vendor relationship management, including general communications, regular meetings, and maintaining/improving vendor and market knowledge.
  • Draft and negotiate main contracts throughout the lifecycle of project development and execution.
  • Work with the project management team to ensure successful project delivery, balancing risk with commercially and contractually viable solutions.
  • Maintain an overview of critical milestones, assessing and managing rights and obligations according to the contract.
  • Direct and process changes, variations, and claims, ensuring changes are implemented in compliance with client commercial interests.
  • Provide interpretation of contracts, organize and process correspondence with contracting parties, and monitor fulfillment of contractual obligations.
  • Manage the commercial relationship and communication with contractors during project execution, ensuring proactive issue resolution.
  • Ensure timely delivery of contracts within the set mandate.
  • Drive governance processes and required presentation material towards stakeholders and decision bodies.
  • Contribute to the development of contract management processes.
  • Adhere to SOX control responsibilities where applicable.
