About The Position

Gilchrist Forest Products LLC. is seeking a full-time Procurement Forester located in Gilchrist, Oregon. This role is responsible for providing forest management skills and expertise to accurately appraise and purchase timber, maximizing margins for GFP from various land sources including private lands, open market wood, ODF, USFS, and BLM lands. The position involves evaluating potential timber resource areas, developing purchasing strategies by analyzing timber quality, quantity, and projected delivered costs, and building/maintaining long-term relationships with key business partners. The individual will be responsible for maintaining updated records of timber sale results, volume under contract, and tracking market conditions. Additionally, this role involves communicating company views, beliefs, and professionalism on forestry issues through positive interactions with landowners, contractors, government agencies, and the general public.

Requirements

Minimum 3 years of experience log buying in the Pacific Northwest.
BS in Forest Management or related field.
Strong negotiating skills.
Effective communication skills.

Responsibilities
