Procurement Engineers at our Nuclear Power Plant play a critical role at the intersection of engineering rigor, supply chain execution, and collaboration. This role ensures the right engineered components are sourced, qualified, and delivered—while maintaining strict configuration control, nuclear quality standards, and regulatory compliance. This position is ideal for an engineer who enjoys solving technical problems with people—working closely with Maintenance, Engineering, Quality, Vendors, and Operations to keep the plant safely and reliably operating. Requirements

  • Demonstrates strong engineering fundamentals with the ability to interpret drawings, specifications, codes, and regulatory requirements.
  • Understands system and component interdependencies and how procurement decisions affect plant safety and performance.
  • Stays current on industry standards, materials, supplier capabilities, and emerging technologies.

  • Has typically acquired 2 or more years of related engineering experience along with a Bachelor's degree in engineering in a program accredited by ABET.
  • Individuals with a Master's degree in engineering in a program accredited by ABET may be considered for entry into the organization at this level.
  • Has typically acquired 4 or more years of related engineering experience along with a Bachelor's degree in engineering in a program accredited ABET; or 2 years of related engineering experience along with a Master's degree or PhD in engineering from a program accredited by ABET.
  • Has typically acquired 8 or more years of related engineering experience along with a Bachelor's degree in engineering in a program accredited by ABET or 6 years of related engineering experience along with a Master's degree or PhD in engineering from a program accredited by ABET.
  • Must establish and maintain a permanent residence within a 45-minute safe drive time to the D.C. Cook Nuclear Power Plant.

Nice To Haves

  • Registration as a Professional Engineer (PE) in any U.S. state or Puerto Rico is encouraged and preferred.
  • Registration as a Professional Engineer (PE) in any U.S. state or Puerto Rico is required for this position unless approval to waive this requirement is given by the organization's EVP.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate, specify, and procure engineered materials, components, and services in accordance with design requirements and nuclear configuration control.
  • Partner with suppliers to resolve technical issues, ensure compliance with nuclear quality requirements, and support component qualification and equivalency evaluations.
  • Ensure procurement activities meet nuclear quality assurance, regulatory, and internal engineering standards.
  • Maintain accuracy and integrity of Bills of Material and approved component configurations.
  • Support delivery schedules, resolve supply constraints, and collaborate cross-functionally to prevent impacts to plant operations.
  • Work directly with Maintenance, Engineering, Planning, and Operations as a trusted engineering advisor, translating technical needs into executable procurement solutions.
