About The Position

The procurement agent supports purchasing activities for site-level teams to ensure materials are sourced efficiently, cost-effectively, and within established timelines. This role requires strong relationship-building and negotiation skills to maintain supplier partnerships and keep projects moving smoothly. The procurement agent will be supporting purchasing activities for the Alberta field teams and will be key in ensuring timely delivery of materials and cost control, which directly impacts project success and client satisfaction. Their strategic approach to sourcing supports operational excellence and strengthens vendor relationships.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of procurement/wholesale experience, ideally within the construction and mechanical industry
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain strong relationships with wholesalers, suppliers, and vendors, ensuring top-notch customer service.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft 365 applications (Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
  • Effective communicator with the ability to develop and sustain productive working relationships with employees, suppliers and other stakeholders at all levels
  • Resourceful, problem-solver able to provide timely solutions
  • Highly organized individual, able to maintain multiple responsibilities and prioritize for successful execution.

  • Knowledge of mechanical systems and construction industry experience.

Responsibilities

  • Source and purchase materials for our field foremen
  • Review, maintain, and issue required purchase orders to preferred vendors
  • Schedule and expedite material deliveries as required
  • Maintain purchase order records in an organized process
  • Effective and timely communication of order status, source and lead time to active project teams
  • Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers, negotiate pricing, terms and seek new opportunities for added value
  • Participate in operational huddles to share known supply chain issues on product availability, price and new opportunities
  • Detailed review of vendor invoices against purchase orders placed to ensure accuracy and resolve exceptions through reconciliation
  • Review, maintain, and recommend appropriate levels of inventoried materials and consumables
  • Execute material return procedures and ensure credits are obtained from suppliers
  • Ability to travel between Edmonton, project sites and supplier locations
