Thrift Store Processor/Driver's Helper
About The Position
The Processor/Driver's Helper is responsible for receiving and processing merchandise from the processing center, accepting donations, and preparing receipts for donors. This role also involves assisting SVDP Drivers with their duties, including loading and unloading goods, navigating routes, providing customer service during deliveries, maintaining vehicle cleanliness, and reporting any vehicle issues. The position requires assisting customers with purchasing needs, answering phone inquiries, operating a cash register, processing merchandise, stocking and arranging items on the retail floor, creating merchandise displays, and performing housekeeping duties. Additionally, the role involves participating in and modeling SVdP’s Culture of Philanthropy and ensuring volunteers feel welcomed and appreciated.
Requirements
- Six months of retail sales or customer service experience
- Able to work with volunteers and support the mission of St. Vincent de Paul
- Highschool diploma or equivalent
- Able to stand, walk, sit, bend, reach and lift up to 50 pounds

- Bilingual (English and Spanish) a plus
Responsibilities
- Assists customers with purchasing needs
- Answers phone inquiries and give information to the public
- Receives donations from donors

- Stocks merchandise on retail floor
- Arranges clothing by department, color and/or size
- Rotates merchandise
- Creates merchandise displays for customer appeal
- Performs housekeeping duties including dusting, mopping, vacuuming, windows, restrooms and parking lots
- Performs any other duties assigned by Store Manager
- Participate in and serve as a model for SVdP’s Culture of Philanthropy, and ensure SVdP volunteers feel welcomed and appreciated
- Assist the driver in loading and unloading goods from the vehicle.
- Help navigate routes and ensure timely deliveries to customers.
- Provide exceptional customer service by addressing client inquiries and concerns during deliveries.
- Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the vehicle.
- Report any vehicle issues or maintenance needs to the driver or management.
