About The Position

This position is responsible for furnishing sterile and non-sterile supplies, equipment, and services for the care and treatment of patients. The role adheres to MercyOne's performance expectations and performs all defined services and other related duties in accordance with the mission, vision, and values of MercyOne. Requirements

  • Requires the ability to read, write and understand the English language, and communicate effectively with patients, visitors, staff, and physicians while performing their job duties.
  • Ability to work with diverse groups of people.
  • Ability to make decisions without supervision and work collaboratively with others as a team.
  • Ability to perform under stressful situations and prioritize according to the urgent needs of the department.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, surgical instruments and sterilization principles.

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum of 6 months experience working with surgical instruments and assisting in patient care preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Decontaminates dirty equipment and supplies.
  • Prepares non-sterile portable equipment and supplies for use.
  • Inspects and assembles instruments in accordance with Pick card
  • Distributes and stores sterile supplies.
  • Loads and unloads sterilization cart and stores items in proper location.
  • Adheres to all safety, infection control and colleague health policies and procedures.
