About The Position
This is a customer service-focused position located on-site at the North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) Oversize/Overweight Permit Unit in Garner, North Carolina. The primary focus will include providing excellent customer service, utilizing mapping and other software applications, and processing phone and online permit applications for the NCDOT Oversize/Overweight Permit Unit.
Requirements
- High School Diploma/GED or equivalent

- Experience with mapping and other software applications
- Familiarity with the trucking/transportation industry
Responsibilities
- Evaluates the state highway system infrastructure for proposed routing of specialty vehicles requiring permits such as oversize and/or overweight trucks.
- Utilizes mapping and other software applications to analyze and evaluate maps, bridge weight, and clearance data.
- Interprets truck route ordinance and establishes safe routing for vehicle/vehicle combinations in partnership with industry professionals.
- Processes transportation permit applications for appropriate agency.
- Maintains up-to-date training for Purchase Card Industry (PCI) standards.
- Performs other duties as assigned
