About The Position

The Processing Operator is responsible for staging, weighing, batching, and processing raw materials according to approved formulations and production schedules. This role supports safe, efficient, and accurate production by maintaining material flow, inventory accuracy, product quality, and equipment readiness throughout the manufacturing process. This is a hands-on role requiring attention to detail, mechanical aptitude, problem-solving skills, and the ability to work across multiple production areas in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. The Processing Operator is expected to support equipment operation, perform first-level troubleshooting, and contribute to continuous improvement efforts as operations become increasingly automated.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and basic math skills
  • Mechanical aptitude and ability to utilize hand tools and perform basic equipment adjustments
  • Basic computer proficiency and ability to navigate manufacturing software and electronic documentation systems
  • Ability to read and understand work instructions, safety procedures, and production documentation
  • Ability to communicate effectively and work in a team environment
  • Ability to cross-train across multiple production and processing areas
  • Ability to lift up to 57 pounds regularly
  • Ability to stand, walk, climb stairs, bend, stoop, kneel, and reach throughout the shift
  • Ability to wear a respirator as required, including passing a medical evaluation and fit test
  • Must be clean shaven where the respirator seals to the face in accordance with safety requirements
  • Comfortable working around machinery and in varying environmental conditions

Nice To Haves

  • Manufacturing, food production, chemical processing, or related experience preferred
  • Forklift certification or experience operating forklifts preferred
  • Experience performing CIP, sanitation, or chemical handling activities in a manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Experience working with HMI-controlled or automated processing equipment preferred
  • Familiarity with PLC-controlled equipment and automated manufacturing systems preferred
  • Experience with ERP systems, warehouse management systems (WMS), inventory systems, or scanning systems preferred
  • Knowledge of cGMP, food safety, sanitation, and quality standards preferred
  • Experience working in a LEAN manufacturing environment or participating in continuous improvement initiatives preferred

Responsibilities

  • Stage, transport, and verify raw materials for production using forklifts and material handling equipment
  • Accurately weigh, measure, and prepare ingredients according to approved formulations
  • Operate mixing tanks, blending equipment, pumps, filters, scales, and related processing systems
  • Follow batch formulas, production schedules, and standard operating procedures to ensure product consistency
  • Support material movement and inventory accuracy throughout the production process
  • Perform Clean-In-Place (CIP) operations and equipment sanitation activities in accordance with established sanitation procedures.
  • Handle cleaning and sanitation chemicals safely while following all applicable safety and operating procedures.
  • Perform equipment startup, shutdown, operational checks, and changeovers as needed
  • Monitor processing equipment and production systems to ensure efficient operation
  • Monitor equipment status, alarms, and operating parameters through HMI interfaces
  • Respond to process alarms and equipment faults by following established troubleshooting procedures
  • Perform first-level troubleshooting and corrective actions to minimize downtime
  • Utilize hand tools and basic maintenance tools during equipment adjustments, setup, and operational support
  • Escalate advanced mechanical, electrical, or PLC-related issues to Maintenance as needed
  • Utilize HMI screens and machine control interfaces to operate and monitor processing equipment
  • Enter and maintain production, inventory, and quality information within company systems
  • Utilize ERP, inventory, scanning, or warehouse management systems to support inventory accuracy and material traceability
  • Follow electronic work instructions, batch records, and system-generated production requirements
  • Support automation initiatives through accurate equipment operation, documentation, and system interaction
  • Understand basic PLC-controlled equipment functions and recognize when equipment issues require escalation to Maintenance
  • Verify materials prior to batching and processing
  • Collect samples and support quality testing activities
  • Monitor product quality and process parameters throughout production
  • Complete batch records and production documentation accurately
  • Follow all cGMP, food safety, sanitation, and safety requirements
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and audit-ready work environment
  • Support process improvement, automation, and operational efficiency initiatives
  • Participate in cross-training activities across production and processing areas
  • Identify opportunities to improve quality, safety, and productivity
