The Processing Operations Resource Leader is responsible for overseeing the successful operation of all activities associated with the High Temperature Short Time (HTST) Department. This position supervises the day-to-day operations of associates assigned to the department and partners with Fluid and Frozen Resource Leaders to ensure production schedules are met in a safe, effective, and efficient manner to meet consumer and customer demand. Must be able to perform and cover all job duties within the department (HTST Operator, Beverage and Ice Cream Batch Preparer, Ingredients Receiving, Raw Bulk Receiving). Communicate with Beverage and Frozen Resource Leaders to ensure finished product quality standards and schedules (i.e. production, sanitation) are met. Conduct regularly scheduled team meetings with associates assigned to shift/department. During daily Stand-up talks, RL is responsible for assigning staffing for department areas. Manage inventories of IC packaging, Beverage Packaging and Shipping/Receiving Warehouses. This includes conducting regular inventories. Ensure packaging and ingredients are staged for Beverage and IC departments. Provide Production Manager with written reports summarizing meeting activities, operational issues, quality related issues, ideas for process improvement and innovation. Assist Quality Assurance Manager and Production Manager in scheduling and participating in sensory evaluation sessions of all finished products. Ensure production and sanitation activities meet all corporate and regulatory safety, quality and Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) requirements. Ensure all associates perform all duties within established Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) regulations and safety guidelines. Support the development, implementation, maintenance, and ongoing improvement of the Safe Quality Food (SQF) 2000 System. Ensure all finished products meet corporate and regulatory quality standards. Ensure that day-to-day production operations are successfully accomplished. Enforce company/department policies and ensure standard work procedures are adhered to. Ensure that shifts are adequately staffed for the following week’s workload. Ensure that vacations and personal/sick days are properly scheduled and coordinated. Conduct associate performance evaluations for new hires, transfers, and as a part of the annual performance review process. Serve as the shift Trainer to ensure that associates newly assigned or transferred to the department are properly and adequately trained. Work with the Department Manager to identify training and developmental opportunities for individual associates. Coordinate department training needs for the entire team. Coach and support development of associates through the department tech levels. Set a good example daily by his/her actions and attitude. Ensure that associates assigned to the department maintain adherence to work hours scheduled specifically starting, quitting, lunch and break schedules. Supervise and coach direct reports in the performance of their duties. Responsible for hiring, associate training and development, motivation and discipline. Shall work closely with senior management and the Human Resources Department to facilitate personnel administration and to always assure compliance with pertinent legal and policy issues. Provide guidance to ensure programs, policies and practices are implemented and effective to produce safe quality foods that meet regulatory and company requirements. Demonstrate knowledge of continuous improvement and lean methodology. Track and report out on completion of department SLAM observations once a month. Follow up with corrective action process to prevent reoccurrence. Follow up on “at risk” comments and follow up with production manager on monthly report out. Demonstrate the ability to engage and coach associates to effectively work in department and cross-functional teams to define and implement process improvements that provide value to the customer. Demonstrate the ability to lead or facilitate department and cross-functional teams through implementation of continuous improvement projects. Serve as THD nightshift point person for HTST press broken seal activities. Must be certified as a THD HTST plant sealer. Coordinate repair of broken device. Run appropriate seal tests. Conduct reseal THD and PDA documents. Complete PDA seal documentation then report findings to plant manager before equipment is put back in service. Daily inventorying and ordering commodities, to include but not limited to milk, cream, high heat condensed skim milk, and vegetable oil. Responsible for Ice Cream plant planning and coordination. Compare daily mix inventories to ice cream schedule, review findings with plant manager and ice cream planner, then create daily IC mix schedule for processing department. Compare daily mix needs to ice cream packaging inventories to ensure packaging for next 24 hours is onsite. Compare daily inventory of ingredients to ensure commodities needed are onsite. Responsible for the supervision of all processing personnel assigned to the shift/department. Perform all duties within established Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) and FSMA guidelines as well as all safety regulations. Comply with Safe Quality Foods (SQF) food safety and quality standards. Perform all other duties as assigned.
