About The Position

This role is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of the manufacturing facility and providing support in various production tasks. Key duties include building batches, handling heated batches, conducting line tests, and performing cleaning duties such as sweeping and operating dryers. The position requires adherence to safety, food safety, and quality protocols, as well as active participation in continuous improvement initiatives.

Requirements

  • Must be able to work in hot and cold conditions.
  • Must be able to climb on and off lift truck throughout shift.
  • Reading, writing, math, and computer skills.
  • Mechanically inclined.
  • Self-motivated and ability to work with little supervision.
  • Complete knowledge of sifting, blending, processing, and dryer operations.
  • Ability to operate (or learn to operate) lift truck.
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds throughout shift.
  • Must be able to move 200-pound barrels regularly.
  • Must be dependable and trustworthy.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure personal safety, food safety, and quality protocols are followed.
  • Keep work area clean and orderly in accordance with Good Manufacturing Practices, HACCP, and 5S.
  • Perform assigned tasks in a manner that does not endanger the environment and adheres to company and regulatory standards.
  • Actively participate in the continuous improvement process.
  • Build batches for your shift and following shift, following recipes exactly and without substitutions without permission.
  • Use check off system when building batches and record cheese receiving dates and ingredient lot numbers on recipes.
  • Use clean buckets, tubs, and utensils, and watch for visual problems of ingredients, reporting findings to supervisor.
  • Dump and heat batches in vat according to manufacturing directions, using a check off system.
  • Send slurry through dual filters when batches are complete and approved for drying, and report findings on processing strainer sheet.
  • Run line tests as needed (e.g., PH, TA, Solids).
  • Keep work area clean while running and at the end of each shift.
  • Maintain Good Manufacturing Practices.
  • Keep buckets, tubs, and pallets washed, and set aside broken pallets for repair.
  • Follow all safety and sanitation practices when washing or sweeping dryer.
  • Inspect augers and carrier bearings per required frequency.
  • Run roller dryer according to procedures.
  • Follow all safety practices when washing.
  • Perform a standard clean in place (CIP) at the end of each day.
  • Pull apart agitators, turbine heads, disassemble pumps, homogenizers, etc., and manually clean and inspect for wear.
  • Observe all sanitation and safety practices, including washing hands and using clean utensils.
  • Follow lock out procedures and safety practices, wearing safety equipment.
