About The Position

The Processing Assistant provides comprehensive administrative and clerical support to professional and specialty staff within the Asheville District Office. The role manages data input and retrieval, processes authorizations and claims, orders aids and equipment, and sets up case files to support program operations. It handles written and verbal communication with consumers, vendors, visitors, and staff while performing copying, filing, and other routine documentation tasks. This position also supports daily office operations by answering phones, distributing mail, greeting visitors, checking in equipment, sending faxes, and providing basic technical assistance with computers and office software. Work ensures accurate documentation, effective communication, and smooth workflow throughout the district office.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and two years of related administrative experience OR An equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

  • Perform data input and retrieval to support case management and administrative workflows.
  • Create authorizations and process claims in alignment with program procedures.
  • Order aids, appliances, assistive technology, and other equipment needed for consumer services.
  • Set up case files and maintain organized, up‑to‑date records for assigned staff.
  • Correspond with consumers, vendors, visitors, and internal staff through written and verbal communication.
  • Complete copying, filing, and other standard documentation tasks required for office operations.
  • Answer telephones, retrieve and distribute mail, and greet visitors to support front‑office functions.
  • Check in equipment, send faxes, and manage basic inventory‑related tracking.
  • Provide basic technical support for computers, software programs, and general office equipment.
  • Support district office staff through general administrative duties that maintain efficient daily operations.
