The Process Technician will play a crucial role in our Valmet Fiber Technology Center as you will be responsible for analyzing and optimizing processes within the paper manufacturing and pulp fiber technology domain. You will conduct research, collect, and analyze data, and provide insights to improve efficiency, quality, and sustainability in pulp and paper production. This role requires a strong understanding of pulp and paper manufacturing processes, analytical skills, and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams. It is a hands-on, mechanically oriented job that regularly requires moderate to heavy lifting.

Requirements

  • Self-driven, detailed oriented, well organized, and patient since many of the tasks are repetitive.
  • Strong knowledge of pulp and paper manufacturing processes and technologies.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team with different internal departments and independently with excellent communication and presentation skills.

Nice To Haves

  • An Associates or Technical degree, or a related field.
  • A combination of relevant schooling with hands on work experience.
  • Previous experience in a similar role within a paper or pulp fiber technology center is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform various Fiber & Pulp analyses per industry standards and at times creatively adjust protocols when needed to meet test requests.
  • Report test results and coordinate with our other Valmet laboratory facilities to ensure that the performed analyses align with corporate standards.
  • Price jobs & work with customer service for quotes and orders.
  • Keep logs for all jobs and equipment in the facility.
  • Request equipment quotes from suppliers and submit new investment needs.
  • Work with the purchasing team to replenish material levels.
  • Coordinate required yearly service and calibration of equipment.
  • Perform ongoing maintenance (filter changes and small equipment repairs).
  • Train new field personnel on basic lab analyses.
  • Direct hourly employee.
  • Process support for field and product teams.
