About The Position

Founded by the Channell family in 1922, Channell is a global designer, manufacturer, and seller of outside plant infrastructure equipment. The markets served by Channell are Telecommunications, Municipalities, Internet Service Providers, Wireless, Water, Power, and CATV, among others. Major product lines include a complete line of thermoplastic and metal fabricated enclosures, fiber optic cable connection and management systems and high performance below grade vaults. The Process Technician is directly responsible for setup and the correct processing of all machines, equipment to ensure to meet daily production schedule and productivity. Also responsible for preventative maintenance and provide support to direct manufacturing activities to ensure that quality parts are always produced effectively and safely.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 1 year of related molding plastics, processing and maintenance experience preferred
  • Experience in machine start-up and shutdown.
  • Knowledge of basic machine functions
  • Basic data entry
  • Good mechanical skills
  • Knowledge of Material Handling systems
  • High School graduate or GED equivalent
  • Must be able to speak, read/comprehend, and write in English
  • Good vision (this can be accomplished with corrective lenses), central and peripheral vision in both eyes to detect objects or movement in the field of view

Responsibilities

  • Setup and operate a variety of material handling, molding, finishing and assembly equipment
  • Responsible for mold change and machine adjustments
  • Start up and shut down of the molding machines
  • Use forklift to do mold changes and organize molds
  • Responsible to fill out the daily process records necessary to control and maintain machine running conditions
  • Conduct minor repairs and change inserts, as necessary
  • Responsible for the operation, repair, and maintenance of high-volume molding machines
  • Monitor production quantities for color change, mold change and product completions
  • Execute all activities within the scope of approved procedures and sets priorities necessary to accomplish pre-determined goals base on production needs
  • Monitor scrap being produced from process and effect changes needed to eliminate root cause of scrap
  • Maintain acceptable level of housekeeping by 5S standards in the assigned work area
  • Promote, attain, and maintain safety, quality, and environmental awareness and requirements in the area of responsibility
  • Identify and resolve issues in the assigned working area related to equipment, machines, personnel, process, training, and materials, which conflict in obtaining maximum quality of production and efficiencies
  • Provide recommendations to engineering about process improvement opportunities for processes, practices, equipment, performance, and efficiency of operations
  • Inspect machines hourly in the assigned working area to ensure production of acceptable quality parts to prevent mass production of defective or unacceptable parts (scrap)
  • Accurately report daily shift performances, which include but not limited to safety, quality, labor hours, production tickets, scrap, and first part approvals
  • Must be able to troubleshoot support equipment (grinders, blenders, hopper loaders, and chillers)
  • Inform Production Lead, where necessary, of all events affecting the flow of production
  • Communicate with on-coming team members with respect to shift performance and scrap
  • Take action to promptly correct or remove all workplace hazards
  • Duties assigned by management
