About The Position

The Process Technician is responsible for setting up, operating, monitoring, and troubleshooting thermal spray (plasma) equipment, powder manufacturing equipment, and auxiliary equipment. The role requires strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and adherence to quality and safety standards to ensure safe, efficient, and consistent production.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Basic mechanical troubleshooting and equipment maintenance knowledge.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to read gauges, operating parameters, and work instructions.
  • Experience using microscopes and measuring devices for quality verification.
  • Ability to safely operate industrial equipment and material handling devices.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and routinely lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to pass respiratory and medical evaluations required for specialized PPE, including PAPRs and respirators.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality and safety.

Nice To Haves

  • 1–3 years of manufacturing, machine operation, or process technician experience preferred.
  • Experience with thermal spray, plasma, HVOF, or similar industrial processes preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Set up, start, operate, adjust, and monitor manufacturing equipment in accordance with approved procedures and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Load, transfer, and handle raw materials, components, and finished goods using forklifts, pallet jacks, hoists, and other approved equipment.
  • Perform routine preventive maintenance, cleaning, inspections, and basic repairs to maximize equipment uptime.
  • Monitor product quality and equipment performance throughout production runs.
  • Calibrate, configure, and adjust thermal spray guns and auxiliary equipment according to established process requirements.
  • Monitor process parameters including voltage, current, gas flow, and powder feed rates, making adjustments as required.
  • Utilize gauges, microscopes, measuring devices, and hand tools to verify product quality and equipment condition.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot equipment issues including clogged hoses, nozzle wear, leaks, and process instability.
  • Document equipment settings, maintenance activities, process parameters, and troubleshooting actions within the Manufacturing Process Plan (MPP) and other required systems.
  • Perform equipment tear-downs, component replacement, corrective maintenance, and rework activities when necessary.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment in accordance with company safety standards.
