About The Position

The Process Technician is a member of Boyd’s process engineering team that focuses on safety and optimizing manufacturing workflows. The primary responsibility of this position is to support manufacturing workflows through continuous improvement activities, issue troubleshooting and resolution, and facilitating communication between the process engineering team and the operations teams.

Requirements

  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline or related technical field or equivalent level of coursework
  • Self-motivated and driven individual who takes ownership in the areas of responsibility
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes and techniques as well as CAD and Blueprint reading
  • Proficient with MS Office software (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook) and use of a PC.

Responsibilities

  • Investigate process improvement activities related to efficiency gains and defect reductions.
  • Respond to all requests for engineering support at all manufacturing work centers as needed
  • Gather information for equipment maintenance, equipment history, capacity analysis, and process improvement.
  • Develop and evaluate manufacturing methods, labor utilization standards, and cost/scrap analysis systems to promote efficient staff and facility utilization.
  • Support lean manufacturing initiatives by participating in events, assisting wherever possible, and following up to ensure that gains are maintained.
  • Coordinate quality control objectives and activities to resolve production issues, maximize product reliability, and minimize cost.
  • Drive Kaizen initiatives by working with teams to identify, implement, track, and report.
  • Review production schedules, engineering specifications, orders, and related information to obtain knowledge of manufacturing methods, procedures, and activities.
  • Evaluate technical specifications and economic factors relating to process or product design objectives.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
