About The Position

Diamond Infrastructure Solutions is an infrastructure-focused company located in the U.S. Gulf Coast, employing approximately 2700 employees and contractors. This specific role is for a Process Technician in Oyster Creek (TX), initially seconded from Dow to Diamond Infrastructure Solutions until January 1, 2027, after which it will be directly aligned with Diamond Infrastructure Solutions. The position involves operating assigned process areas both inside (Mod V Board) and outside of Salt Dome Operations (Freeport Stratton Ridge Operations, FSR) site in a safe and optimal manner. Salt Dome Operations is responsible for storing and transferring raw materials and products, and mining salt reserves for chlorine production facilities in Texas Operations. The facility covers approximately 3,200 acres and is part of Dow's Mining, Storage, and Pipeline (MSP) value center.

Requirements

  • A minimum of a High School Diploma or GED/equivalent AND ONE of the following is also required: An Associate’s degree or above in Process Technology, Instrumentation/Electrical, Computer Technology, or other technology fields; 3 or more years of military experience technical in nature; 3 or more years of process operator/process technician experience in the chemical industry.
  • Must have a current, valid, United States driver’s license to drive a forklift and a company vehicle.
  • Be able to work a rotating shift following the Dupont schedule, either 5:00 AM to 5:00 PM or 5:00 PM to 5:00 AM on scheduled days.
  • Ability to work legally in the United States. No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process.
  • System Procedures: The ability to operate and field check process equipment, monitor process conditions, and control systems. This includes performing routine sampling and tasks assigned to operations, such as equipment preparation and routine maintenance.
  • Communication: Good verbal and written communication skills are necessary for coaching and training others on plant operations, as well as for documenting and following up on deficiencies noted during rounds.
  • Mechanical Aptitude: Proficiency in operating and field-checking several types of process equipment. This includes performing routine maintenance tasks and preparing equipment for operations.
  • Troubleshooting: The ability to diagnose and resolve mechanical issues that may arise during operations. This involves using technical knowledge and skills to identify root causes and implement effective solutions.
  • Emergency Procedures: Actively participating in EH&S programs, developing personal safety goals, and ensuring that operational activities and process performance align with business goals.
  • Problem-Solving: The ability to participate in root cause investigations and identify opportunities for plant optimization. This involves using technical knowledge to address issues and improve overall plant performance.

Responsibilities

  • Operates and field checks process equipment.
  • Monitors process conditions, equipment and control systems (pumps, compressors, drying towers, exchangers, fired heaters, caverns, tanks, ponds, flares, scrubbers/separators, and multiple highly integrated pipeline header systems.)
  • Performs routine sampling and effective shift rounds, documenting and escalating deficiencies.
  • Works with shift team members to complete tasks assigned to operations as per Task List (equipment preparation, routine maintenance, non-routine samples, etc.)
  • Ensures operational activities and process performance are aligned with Salt Dome Operations and business goals.
  • Follows and helps create Operating Discipline policies, procedures, standards and practices to ensure safe, reliable and efficient operation of assigned plant areas.
  • Ensures an adequate operating discipline is available for all planned and unplanned activities.
  • Conducts effective shift relief, as defined in facility specific operating discipline and using Logbook tools, to ensure effective communication and handoff to arriving shift team and day staff.
  • As required, performs immediate response activities and takes part in Root Cause Investigations.
  • Mentors and trains new and existing operations personnel on process operation, troubleshooting and the use of operating discipline in alignment to plant's training process.
  • Tracks and utilizes the plant's key performance metrics on shift that are applicable to optimize operations and identify improvement opportunities.
  • Uses process knowledge and skills to make improvements in plant performance and operating discipline.
  • Proactively identifies improvements and opportunities using the facility improvement processes, proper management of change processes and communication tools.
  • Performs Autonomous Maintenance, including minor repairs and preventative maintenance, using proper policies, procedures, processes and disciplines.
  • Actively participate in EH&S programs, including leak buster and housekeeping.
