About The Position

Responsible for coordination and/or execution of the assembly, installation, set-up, operation, testing, and troubleshooting of production equipment to ensure that machines are running at optimum efficiency. This role involves setting up, operating, testing, and troubleshooting complex production equipment, adhering to established tolerances, and adjusting machinery as required. The technician will read and interpret basic drawings, schematics, and bills of material, and diagnose and repair complex mechanical equipment and instruments. They will operate power and manual hand tools, monitor instruments and equipment, and collect operating data including calibration, inspection, testing, and repair activities. Additionally, the role involves devising, fabricating, assembling, and disassembling new or modified mechanical components and machinery. The technician will provide technical support to engineers to achieve improvements in cycle-time, yield, unit cost, quality, safety, and compliance, and lead or participate in process failure discussions, investigations, troubleshooting, analysis, evaluation, implementation, and documentation of technical solutions. Participation in projects or programs of minimal size, scope, and duration, and collaboration with production personnel and other departments to gather information, draft reports, and improve equipment, processes, and products are also key aspects. The role includes recommending continuous improvement plans and mentoring other team members.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree with an emphasis in a mechanical or manufacturing process program and three (3) years of manufacturing equipment and processes, mechanical or machine maintenance and installation experience, OR High school diploma or equivalent and five (5) years of manufacturing equipment and processes, mechanical or machine maintenance and installation experience
  • Proficiency in using powered and manual hand tools such as soldering iron, multimeter, wrench, hammer, screwdriver, etc.
  • Math skills to include decimals and fractions
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints or drawings including, but not limited to manuals, catalogues, schematics, or prints
  • Prior experience troubleshooting and repairing production tooling and equipment and testing equipment
  • Familiarity with, or ability to learn various statistical and quality methodologies such as Statistical Process Control (SPC), Statistical Quality Control (SQC), 5S, 8D, Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA), Root Cause Analysis, Gage Repeatability and Reproducibility (R&R), and Design of Experiments (DOE)
  • Understanding of production processes, quality control, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture of products
  • Excellent verbal and written skills necessary in order to communicate intricate job-related processes
