About The Position

The Injection Molding Technician is responsible for all aspects of the injection molding process, including setup, processing, troubleshooting, maintenance, and optimization of production and sample molds. This role requires advanced technical expertise, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to support process development while maintaining high standards of quality, safety, and efficiency.

Requirements

  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in injection mold setup, processing, and removal
  • Strong knowledge of injection molding machines, processes, and industry terminology
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical documentation
  • Experience with eDART or similar process monitoring systems
  • Proficiency with hand tools and precision measuring instruments
  • Advanced understanding of plastic materials and processing techniques
  • Strong problem-solving, troubleshooting, and organizational skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel and Outlook
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills

Nice To Haves

  • Two (2) years of technical college education or equivalent preferred
  • Formal SIM training from accredited institutions strongly preferred
  • CAD experience is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Perform complete mold setup and teardown, including troubleshooting and preventive maintenance for production and sample molds
  • Install, remove, and replace waterlines; perform routine water filter cleaning
  • Conduct proper line clearance, moisture analysis, and tolerance monitoring to ensure process integrity
  • Maintain press cleanliness, including platen cleaning, preventive maintenance (PM), and housekeeping before, during, and after tasks
  • Manage work orders, raw materials, and advanced mold lubrication (leader pins, side locks, cams, slides)
  • Execute Advanced Scientific Injection Molding (SIM) techniques to support Processing Engineering in process development
  • Perform advanced troubleshooting of machines, tooling functionality, and Mold Process Control (MPC), including controlled out-of-tolerance evaluations
  • Conduct mold evaluations following critical tool repairs
  • Load and adjust automation programs as needed
  • Execute DOE, IQ, OQ, PQ, and confirmation runs
  • Perform press start-up, restart, and shutdown procedures
  • Identify process and material issues, determine root causes, and implement effective corrective actions
  • Ensure compliance with company and industry standards to maintain a safe and efficient manufacturing environment
  • Train and mentor new and less experienced technicians
  • Perform additional duties as assigned
