Responsibilities

  • Filter Leaf Building: Remove and replace old wearing parts, including the outer band, hub band, and cloth. Inspect critical components such as the hub, core board, poly mesh, and rubber seals for wear, damage, or deformation. Replace any worn parts, ensuring correct assembly thickness and proper trimming of mesh to avoid overlaying the outer rubber seal. Install new cloth, secure it with the hub band clamp, and stretch it over the core board and outer seal. Repeat for the other side of the leaf, then install the outer band and load the leaf into the transport rack.
  • Filter Rebuild: Remove spent leaves, inspect the filter internals (sluice nozzles, sluice bar rollers, lining material, rear shaft bearing, center hanger, forward hanger), and replace worn or damaged parts. Blind the filter using specified blinds, open the door, rinse the inside, remove the sluice header, shaft nut, forward bearing assembly, and bracing arm. Remove leaves one by one until the center bearing assembly is reached, then remove the remaining leaves. Inspect and replace components as needed. Load new leaves onto the shaft, ensuring correct alignment with keyways and sluice nozzles. Install hangers correctly and secure them. Tighten the leaf pack using the shaft nut, rotating the shaft multiple times to ensure full compression. Install a new door gasket and close the filter door carefully, ensuring proper alignment and even pressure on the gasket. Remove blinds and secure flanges, replacing gaskets as needed.
  • Isom & Epim Columns: Clean and prepare columns after unloading. Blind the column, disconnect the nitrogen inlet, open the bottom door, and vacuum out the resin. Enter the column (with a CSE permit) to remove old caulk, inspect nitrogen inlets, and install new caulk around bolt heads and support joints. Replace the door gasket, reinstall the door, pull blinds, and reconnect the nitrogen line.
  • Microfiltration Membranes: Remove spent membranes after sweetening off and draining. Remove end caps from both ends of the banks to be changed, along with permeate lines. Use a pusher to remove old membranes and spacers. Replace o-rings on saved spacers. Install new membranes and spacers into each tube, lubricating with glycerin and being careful not to damage o-rings. Install end caps and permeate lines, ensuring proper alignment and depth. Tighten flanges and check for leaks. Dispose of old membranes and packing material.
  • Dumping Chemicals: Dump bleach and surfactant into appropriate tanks using a forklift to tilt totes and remove residual chemical. Transport empty totes to Old Stores. Stage calcium pallets and chemicals as needed.
  • Miscellaneous: Empty process trash cans and dumpsters. Perform building GMP tasks. Unload various truck deliveries (resins, chemicals, membranes, etc.). Stage materials on different floors using a forklift and freight elevator. Receive and stock materials from Stores. Restock empty filter bag cans. Lead teams in membrane changes, garnet washing, garnet loading, and quartz loading. Maintain the Daily Track List. Perform 4th-floor clean-up, including removing empty totes and pallets, and sweeping floors. Perform other duties as required by process needs.
