Process Safety Internship
About The Position
Fervo Energy is developing next-generation geothermal power to deliver firm, carbon-free energy at scale. Our flagship Cape Station development in Milford, Utah is one of the largest next-generation geothermal developments in the world, and our Houston headquarters houses the engineering, commercial, and corporate teams driving Fervo's growth. This internship offers a unique opportunity to support the build-out of Fervo's Process Safety function as Powerblock scales, gaining exposure to hazard review and safety standard work. Interns at Fervo are given real projects to drive, working alongside teams building the future of geothermal energy and tackling problems that move the business forward. The internship culminates in a presentation of work to the executive leadership team, department leads, and fellow interns.
Requirements
- Current enrollment in B.S. or M.S. in Mechanical, Aerospace, Chemical, Industrial, or similar engineering as a rising Junior, Senior
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including comfort presenting to stakeholders and leadership
- Eagerness to learn, take initiative, and adapt quickly to new challenges
Nice To Haves
- Interest in process safety and industrial risk management
- Experience in process safety, risk management, or root cause analysis
Responsibilities
- Assist with hazard reviews
- Support development of safety documentation
- Help update process safety procedures and standards
- Participate in PHA or incident investigations
