About The Position

We are seeking a proactive and innovative Process Quality Engineer to join our Operations team. This role bridges production, engineering, and quality with a focus on ownership of production lines, problem-solving, statistical analysis, and process innovation. The Quality Engineer will partner with cross-functional teams to ensure high-quality product delivery, scalable processes, and continuous improvement initiatives aligned with Quality standards and company objectives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering (e.g., electrical, manufacturing), or general science (e.g., chemistry) or a related field AND 3+ years of related experience OR master’s degree in engineering (e.g., electrical, manufacturing), or general science (e.g., chemistry) or a related field AND 1+ years of related experience
  • 3+ years of direct experience in quality engineering within an advanced manufacturing environment (e.g., composites, adhesives, semiconductors, chemicals, aerospace, automotive, or similar).
  • Strong proficiency in applying quality methodologies and tools (SPC, FMEA, Control Plans, MSA/Gage R&R, DoE).
  • Experience writing SOPs and maintaining documentation within an established QMS.
  • Hands-on experience with laboratory testing equipment and industrial metrology.
  • Demonstrated expertise in root cause analysis and implementing effective CAPAs.
  • Excellent technical writing and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex quality data clearly to engineering and management teams.

Nice To Haves

  • Direct experience in lithium-ion or lithium-sulfur battery manufacturing, cell testing, or nanomaterials processing.
  • Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification.
  • Experience with ISO 9001:2015 and/or IATF 16949 compliance and auditing.
  • Proficiency in data analysis software (e.g., JMP, Minitab, Python, or SQL).
  • ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) credential.

Responsibilities

  • Define critical-to-quality (CTQ) parameters and establish clear pass/fail criteria in collaboration with the R&D and process engineering teams.
  • Develop, implement, and execute incoming, in-process/final quality control plans for raw materials, chemical formulations, and finished composite assemblies.
  • Conduct Measurement System Analysis (MSA) and gauge R&R studies to validate the accuracy and reliability of all testing and inspection equipment.
  • Own the Process FMEA (Failure Mode and Effects Analysis), leading cross-functional teams to identify, evaluate, and proactively mitigate manufacturing risks.
  • Implement Statistical Process Control (SPC) across pilot and commercial production lines to monitor manufacturing stability and yield.
  • Analyze manufacturing data to identify trends, process drifts, and opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Lead cross-functional investigations into non-conformances (NCRs), out-of-specification (OOS) results, and customer returns.
  • Drive structured problem-solving methodologies (e.g., 8D, 5 Whys, Fishbone diagrams) to identify root causes.
  • Design, execute, and verify Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA) to prevent recurrence.
  • Assist in building, auditing, and maintaining compliance with ISO 9001 and potentially IATF 16949 standards.
  • Write, review, and control Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and work instructions.
  • Conduct internal audits and collaborate with external auditors and suppliers on quality standards.
  • Collaborate with supplier quality teams to qualify new suppliers and raw materials.
  • Review supplier quality documentation (CoAs, SPC data) and conduct supplier performance reviews.
