About The Position

The Process Operator monitors and adjusts system control points within each unit operation and monitors and maintains equipment in assigned areas. The Process Operator works closely with the QA Technicians and other operators concerning the quality of the raw product and types of defects. The Process Operator reports mechanical malfunctions to achieve maximum performance while minimizing loss of recovery. The individual in this position will be required to fully understand the purpose and operation of the hashbrown process line along with having the ability to make decisions based on sound judgment and the use of statistical control techniques. It is imperative the person(s) conducts themselves in a manner that ensures alertness and constant awareness of the safe operation of equipment and surroundings. Overtime requirements in this position are common and may be required to meet operational goals.

Requirements

  • Must demonstrate the ability to read, understand, and communicate in a manner to successfully perform the job duties, such as reading and understanding operations manuals and have the ability to communicate with other employees, coordinate work responsibilities and use good judgment in decisions.
  • Must be able to work with analytical testing equipment, such as pH meters, scales, Agtron, graduated cylinders, etc.
  • Must have basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication division and percents) to make proper adjustments and calibrations as required.
  • Must be able to climb stairs, scaffolds and catwalks on a regular basis and in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds.
  • Must have manual dexterity in both hands.
  • Must be able to correctly identify different colors.
  • Must be able to work in extreme environments, wet, cold, hot, dry, and steamy.
  • Must be able to work with hazardous chemicals.
  • Must demonstrate basic computer skills.
  • Must be able to work in stressful conditions and be physically able to perform job duties.
  • Must be able to dismantle equipment and put it back together for cleaning.
  • Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Must have an acceptable safety record.
  • Must have an acceptable attendance record.

Responsibilities

  • Ensures system control points within each unit operation are monitored and adjusted appropriately to meet operational goals and customer specifications.
  • Coordinates the line flow through processing functions including, but not limited to: peeler, blanching, ingredient addition, drying, frying, freezing, budget pounds, recovery, oil usage, retail percent, and energy conservation.
  • Ensure that other process data is monitored and recorded in Manufacturing Management Suite [MMS].
  • Ensures operational procedures are efficiently and safely followed.
  • Ensures necessary level of communication is maintained with team members and support groups regarding line conditions.
  • Uses process control to maintain uniformity, color, texture, solids, product temperatures, defect loading, weights, and freezing.
  • Ensures the correct and accurate completion of all written paperwork required of the position.
  • Ensures information entered in Manufacturing Management Suite [MMS] is correct.
  • Keeps work areas clean and completes all sanitation tasks assigned, including during shut-down clean-ups and start-up sanitation.
  • Reports food safety and safety hazards to proper personnel and follows up to ensure corrections.
  • Ensures no injuries to self or others by following safe work practices and policies.
  • Ensure self-compliance with Company policies and procedures.
  • Ensures attendance and participation in training activities appropriate to the position and to incorporate acquired skills and knowledge.
  • Conduct oneself in a professional manner and ensure personal appearance meets the standards necessary to perform the job functions while representing the Company.
  • Ensure the interface with team members and other support groups is conducted in a participative management style conducive with operational goals.
  • Ensure that additional accountabilities, as may be required by management, be handled in a manner necessary to meet operational and divisional standards.
