The Process Operator is responsible for the operation of the computer controlled process equipment, cooker, machinery, and evaluation of any process problems in addition to performing product quality testing. The work schedule is Night Shift from 6:00pm to 6:00am. Essential Duties/Responsibilities include overseeing the rendering process from raw material bin to finished goods storage, maintaining a steady flow of material to the cooker, and ensuring the cooker temperature, rate, and steam are at peak operating levels. The operator will monitor the evaporation rate to maintain the required rate per hour, control the flow of material to presses and finished goods storage, and monitor the control panel and various gauges to accomplish the process. Responsibilities also include operating the pollution control system (air/odor control and wastewater control), boiler start-up and operation, performing periodic preventative maintenance on all equipment, monitoring machinery, and reporting any problems to the manager. The operator is responsible for ensuring the equipment and work area are clean after each shift, maintaining safety as a top priority in accordance with company rules, and being aware of and responsible for their role in Darling's food safety program. All other duties as assigned.
