About The Position

The Clorox Company at our Atlanta West facility is seeking a Processing Operator who consistently demonstrates outstanding work behaviors and a drive for excellence. As a Process Operator at Clorox, you will operate and monitor manufacturing equipment to ensure efficient and safe production processes. Follow strict quality control procedures to maintain the highest standards of product quality. Resolve any production issues to minimize downtime and improve efficiency. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve root causes of any manufacturing inefficiencies and efficiently implement corrective actions. The role involves coordinating various processing activities to ensure efficient workplace organization and adherence to safety protocols. Under limited supervision, working as a fully trained line operator responsible for operating and adjusting all the equipment associated with the Process Operation. The employee must demonstrate and sustain proficiency in areas of Safety, Quality, Housekeeping, Production and/or Process, and Cost.

Requirements

  • 3-5 years in a Manufacturing/distribution environment, preferably Food/Beverage.
  • Ability to calibrate pH meters and run quality checks for batches.
  • Monitor tank levels and make chemical batches at appropriate times.
  • Unload tanks and trucks and pump drums and totes into tanks.
  • Deface and clean totes and drums for reuse and recycling.
  • Has training and experience in handling chemicals in a safe manner.
  • Knowledge of all Process equipment operations skills to include changeover adjustments, maintenance, safety procedures and troubleshooting skills to maintain the highest operating standards.
  • Must be able to perform basic PMs such as lubrication, inspection of components for wear, maintenance of pneumatic system components, etc.
  • Be in good standings for attendance and/or work performance; internals have qualified at the Group 4 level and possess a strong working knowledge of Process Operations.
  • Being a qualified Filler Operator is required.

Responsibilities

  • Add raw materials to process tanks, operate process equipment and monitor controls, and instrumentation for multiple processes simultaneously.
  • Safely oversee drums, totes and supersacks using forklift.
  • Troubleshoot, perform preventive maintenance, and identify corrective maintenance work for all processing systems.
  • Perform rail car switches with railroad personnel and complete unloading activities of caustic and High Strength railcars per DOT and HazMat procedures.
  • Couple, uncouple, position, and connect railcars for transfer of caustic and High Strength Bleach.
  • Perform bulk tanker truck unloading activities for hazardous chemicals per DOT and HazMat procedures.
  • Setup manual valves in truck loading to charge applicable bulk storage tanks, remove and clean truck unloading strainers, pump out truck unloading sumps, take samples from tanker trucks, and connect and disconnect hoses.
  • Complete documentation and safety practices to ensure that all safety systems are operational.
  • Complete and maintain logs, records, and reports necessary for the operation of the Process Department.
  • Maintain area security by locking crash gates and security fence when trucks enter and exit the area.
  • Lock and secure crash gates at railroad entrances.
  • Back up security personnel by monitoring cameras as needed.
  • Maintain control of entrance into bleach process area.
  • Analyze and evaluate production schedule and current packaging performance to determine the correct sequence of production activities to ensure current shift and future shift requirements are met.
  • Accurately identify quantity of raw materials and stage in the correct pump-up location.
  • Monitor computer screens to locate ingredient flows and variations and make necessary adjustments to support them.
  • Fill salt tanks by lifting 40-lb salt bags, filter aid by lifting 25-lb bags, and make soda ash solution by lifting 50-lb bags.
  • Perform physical inventory and reconciliation of raw materials and recommend adjustments to the Inventory Management System.
  • Remove, repair, and replace piping, valves, pressure gauges, actuators, and pumps using available drawings.
  • Maintain scales, pH meters, and viscometers and formulate reagents for laboratory testing.
  • Perform analytical tests on all finished products.
  • Operate wastewater systems to ensure all discharges are below the discharge permit level.
  • Support WCM processes including Early Management, Daily Operations, and other Pillars.
  • Supports Line / Area improvement projects and equipment installation that drive plant metrics.
  • Supports Skill Assessment and progression as required.
