About The Position

ERCO Worldwide is looking for an Auxiliary (Process) Operator to join their Production team at the Port Edwards Plant. This role involves operating and controlling equipment in the plant and facility brine systems (NaCl and KCl), which are integrated with a chlorine electrolyzer operation and partially covered by OSHA PSM. Production Operators are responsible for monitoring and adjusting equipment to ensure high-quality product output. The position is full-time, permanent, with a 12-hour shift schedule and requires working every other weekend. Overtime is expected when necessary.

Requirements

High School degree or above (Technical College)
Basic understanding of manufacturing in industries such as chemical, pulp and paper, and food processing
Industrial experience with brine operation, rail cars, pumps, valves, electrolyzers, heat rectifiers, confined space
Creative and innovative thinker

Responsibilities

Completes all requirements of the On-boarding program within 60 days.
Completes initial operator training packets for KCl Brine, NaCl Brine and Environmental Control plant in a timely manner.
Walks systems using a round log sheet and records process conditions.
Inspects pumps, seal water flow, saturator voids, salt flow, gauges, tank levels, and agitators.
Looks for leaks and abnormalities using all senses (sight, hearing, smell, touch) while exercising caution and wearing appropriate PPE.
Writes service orders in E1 (JD Edwards) for necessary repairs.
Performs minor repairs such as changing fittings, hoses, stopping leaks, and tightening flanges.
Safely collects required samples.
Properly tests collected samples in the lab.
Records data on both paper and electronic copies.
Adjusts the system to maintain results within parameters listed in the Process Control Manual.
Follows operating procedures for shutting down and starting up systems.
Follows SOPs when preparing systems for Maintenance work.
Understands the lockout policy and how to use a lockbox checklist for equipment isolation.
Works with experienced operators during main plant outages.
Tests alarms, automatic, and manual controls for proper operation.
Uses hard and electronic copies of operation manuals, P&IDs, and procedures to independently increase understanding of the systems.
Maintains plant housekeeping and safety standards, including inspections and observations.
Participates in PHAs, IMR investigations, PSSERs, JSAs, and process improvements as needed.
Reviews Operating procedures when assigned in EDMS.
Reviews MOCs, suggests changes, and signs operator training forms.
Assists with troubleshooting process issues and recommends process changes.
Fully understands the environmental rules and regulations related to the entire production process.
Becomes certified in HAZWPOR, CPR, and First Aid.
Controls equipment in both brine systems (NaCL & KCl) and the waste treatment plant under the supervision of the Chief Operator.
Begins training in the brine area alongside an experienced operator, completing initial brine operator training packets in ERCO U within three to four months.
Starts training in the environmental control plant after brine training, completing a training packet within six months of the hire date.
Monitors brine systems (NaCl & KCl) through two system-wide rounds, conducted twice per shift, checking for proper equipment functions, flows, leaks, unusual sounds, smells, or vibrations, and setpoints.
Collects, tests, and records samples of hazardous chemicals, brine, and brine muds twice per shift, making adjustments to keep processes in the target range.
Operates the Environmental Control Plant by treating plant-wide wastewater and brine muds.
Monitors fumes scrubbers for various vessels.
Understands requirements for discharging liquid to the effluent, which is regulated by RCRA, the DNR, and others.
