About The Position

Vishay is seeking a full-time Engineering Technician for the Yankton Custom Process Engineering team. This role is responsible for hands-on ownership of equipment automation support and sustainment. The position provides day-to-day technical support for automated and semi-automated manufacturing and test equipment, including TM-500 automation, winders, robots, and inspection systems. Responsibilities include troubleshooting, setup, repair, preventive maintenance support, and continuous improvement to maximize uptime, safety, and product quality. The work is performed in a manufacturing/production environment with exposure to moving machinery, electrical panels, and production noise. Position requires adherence to all site EHS and LOTO requirements, and mandatory use of PPE such as safety glasses, hearing protection, and safety shoes. Physical requirements may include standing/walking for extended periods, bending, reaching, and lifting within established site limits.

  • Good mechanical and electrical skills.
  • Must qualify as a "U.S. Person" as defined by 22 C.F.R. §120.15 due to access to information subject to ITAR and/or EAR regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, motion, and control system issues on automated and semi-automated manufacturing and test equipment.
  • Replace/repair components such as sensors, actuators, drives, motors, valves, tooling, and fixtures, and verify correct operation.
  • Support equipment setups, changeovers, and qualification runs.
  • Capture problem statements, document fixes, update troubleshooting guides, and recommend corrective actions to engineering and maintenance to reduce repeat issues.
  • Support preventive maintenance and calibration activities in partnership with Maintenance/Metrology.
  • Identify wear items and maintain spares/consumables for critical automation assets.
  • Provide off-shift/on-call or off-site support as needed for critical issues and project support.
  • Assist engineers with automation improvement projects, including minor controls changes, fixture/tooling improvements, sensor upgrades, and error-proofing.
  • Participate in kaizen/continuous improvement activities.
  • Update work instructions, equipment setup sheets, and checklists.
  • Maintain good housekeeping and 5S around automation equipment, cabinets, tooling, and spare parts.
