About The Position

Vishay is seeking a full-time Engineering Technician for the Yankton Custom Process Engineering team. This role is responsible for hands-on ownership of equipment automation support and sustainment. The position provides day-to-day technical support for automated and semi-automated manufacturing and test equipment, including troubleshooting, setup, repair, preventive maintenance, and continuous improvement to maximize uptime, safety, and product quality. The job is located on-site in Yankton, SD.

Requirements

  • Knowledge and use of computers a must.
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings.
  • Ability to assemble, disassemble and debug equipment.
  • Ability and desire to learn new things.
  • Ability to effectively problem solve.
  • Good mechanical and electrical skills.
  • Must qualify as a “U.S. Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. §120.15.

  • Knowledge of electronics manufacturing and quality requirements a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Ownership of equipment automation support and sustainment for the Yankton Custom Process Engineering team by troubleshooting electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, motion, and control system issues.
  • Replace/repair components (sensors, actuators, drives, motors, valves, tooling, fixtures) and verify correct operation.
  • Support equipment setups, changeovers, and qualification runs.
  • Perform sustainment activities to reduce repeat issues: capture problem statements, document fixes, update troubleshooting guides, and recommend corrective actions to engineering and maintenance.
  • Support preventive maintenance and calibration activities in partnership with Maintenance/Metrology; identify wear items and maintain spares/consumables for critical automation assets.
  • Provide off-shift/on-call or off-site support as needed for critical issues and project support (as assigned).
  • Assist engineers with automation improvement projects (minor controls changes, fixture/tooling improvements, sensor upgrades, error-proofing) and participate in kaizen/continuous improvement activities.
  • Support documentation and training: update work instructions, equipment setup sheets, and checklists.
  • Maintain good housekeeping and 5S around automation equipment, cabinets, tooling, and spare parts.
  • Other duties as assigned.
